Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 74.8 and 73.9 @ 20 ft.
Water Clarity: Water visibility is down to 2' to 4'.

** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.

Overall the fishing has slowed down. The heat has kept the anglers to a bare minimum and running for the AC.

Trout: The coves are harboring a few hold out trout. Jim Rice from Campo was one of the few to pull in these hardy souls. He reports two 2 lb plus and two of the smaller DFG variety. But still...August?

Bass: The Bass are being caught in the 2 lb range. All caught and released. Linda Peterson from the Alpine Sun Monthly told of 1 bass, 2 cats, and 1 blue gill.

Catfish: The catfish have been the hot catch lately. Gary Cramer, pictured of Campo hoisted and solid 19 lb 12 oz stringer with largest a 6 lb 8 oz whisker. The North end of the lake near the mouth of cotton wood creek has been popular this week.

Blue Gill: The Gills are only coming in two and three at a time.

Crappie: The crappie bite has slowed to zip.

Carp: These fish are saving themselves for another time.
