Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 74.8 and 73.9 @ 20 ft.
Water Clarity: Water visibility is at about 2' to 3'.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Trout: The trout, I believe, have finally ended their season. Just a few short months until the stockings begin again.
Bass: The Bass are being caught in the 2 lb range. All caught and released. Brian Scott of Campo reports catching 11 Largemouths early in the morning. He was working the middle and traversed to Cottonwood creek area.
Catfish: The catfish have been the most caught fish lately. Benjamin McGhee from Spring Valley brought some family and was using mackerel and the early morning hours to limit. A few Blues made it to his creel. Jim Hill of Campo was at it again fooling a mix of channel and blue cats. Jake Phillips of Lemon Grove and friend Matt Chapple both limited sharing 27lbs of cats casting chunks of mackerel. Deon Jackson, Temecula, and Dewey Brown, San Diego, limited with mackerel in Cabin Cove. Larry Bethune, Santee, and Dino Curry, La Mesa, each had their limit of Cats with total weights of 12lbs and 13 lbs respectively in Pumphouse. More on Larry and Dino coming up.
Blue Gill: Pumphouse Cove was the spot for the gills but other rocky areas were also working as well. Mr. McGhee was happy with his 10. Larry and Dino plucked 11 each with meal worms and nightcrawlers.
Crappie: The crappie bite has slowed to zip.
Carp: These fish are saving themselves for another time.
Water Clarity: Water visibility is at about 2' to 3'.
