Lake Conditions Surface temperature is 22.62 degrees Celsius/ 72.7 Fahrenheit. The water visibility is about 1 to 2 ft.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.
Trout Over the past week only one rainbow showed up. Surprise!
Bass The Large-Mouth are continuing to be found throughout the lake. Plenty of 1 and 2 pounders were reported; all but a few were caught and released. Larger bass are on the move as 8 to 11 pounders are being reported. Brian Scott continues his onslaught catch and releasing only 6 all on plastics two days this week. The "secret" was using green senko. Brain Stewart, Pine Valley, was using purple plastics to fool a 6 lber and 2 more over 5 lbs. Stew Fiehler ,Jamul, hauled in a 4 lber and 3 more in the 3 lb range.
Catfish The Catfish have continued to please anglers with many limits reported. Nightcrawlers are the best bet, and then comes Chicken Livers as the second best bait. One of the better spots was near the boulders at Cabin cove but other spots such as Horseshoe cove and Pumphouse cove did just as well. Ouk Rith, El Cajon, and Som Uth, San Diego, (honest) were using shrimp in Cabin Cove to clobber their limits of the whiskers.
Blue Gill No "gills" reported this week
Crappie The Crappie have been no shows.
Carp These fish are mouthing the surface parading around the boat dock. They are beginning to bite in the North end.
