Trout season at Dixon Lake continues strong as the Wednesday, November 19 stock of 4,500 lbs. keeps anglers catching limits and larger than average trout.

Rainbow PowerBait and nightcrawlers seem to be the most popular bait in recent days, but bait is generally varying on a relatively wide scale. Thomas Buyouant lures, Kastmaster spinners, PowerWorms, and jigs have all been reported by fisherman.

Some very large trout made their appearances this week. Nick Isabell of Escondido used an orange PowerWorm to bring in a 7 lb. 9 oz. trout in Trout Cove on 11/19. Jevon Joslyn of Escondido brought in a 9 lb. trout using a silver Kastmaster.

Pier 1 has been consistent this season. Teddy Barone of Oceanside caught a 6 ?? lb. trout off of a mini-jig on 11/20, and Shahab Godarz went a little south of Pier 1 using a gold Kastmaster to bring in an 8 lb. 11 oz. Tailwalker on the same day.

An unknown fisherman brought in a 9 lb. 9 oz. trout this week as well.

Catfish have been appearing in large size and numbers for the fisherman going for them. Two anglers reported that they caught their daily limits for catfish on Thursday 11/20.

While almost every angler has been successful in their fishing efforts, notable larger catches have been made nearly every day since the stock.

Dixon Lake Rangers are pleased to announce The 36th??Annual Trout Derby has been re-scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 5-7th. Any additional details of the new derby dates will be updated as the dates reach closer.

To make this three-day event competitive for the novice, as well as the skilled angler, there are a variety of ways to win. Prizes will be awarded for the following five categories: the largest trout of the derby, the largest in each age category (senior, adult, and youth), the first and second largest trout of each day, the smallest trout of the derby, and for the first 15 trout brought in that have a plastic clip on their dorsal fin.

??????????To enter, each fisherman must purchase a daily permit normally required to fish the lake ($7.00 adults, $5.00 for kids under 16 and seniors over 60). There is no additional charge to enter the derby, but the $5 vehicle entry fee into the park will be charged each day of the derby. Fish must be weighed in during derby hours, 6:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., on the day they are caught. Since contestants can win only one prize, chances of winning are good.

Dixon Lake would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding during difficult times of postponement of trout season. We expect large crowds for our 36th Annual Trout Derby, and look forward to a great turnout.
