To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesday and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The trout fishing remains solid. The coves are all doing well. Expect the bite to ramp up following Wednesday's double plant. Big trout of the week went to Axel Morelos's 8.25# caught on rainbow powerbait and a powerworm in Oakvale Cove. Rainbow powerbait and inflated nightcrawlers have been the most productive baits.

This is an excellent time to be throwing swimbaits in hopes of landing a large bass. Bass can be found near structure and respond best to crawdads, swimbaits, and dark colored plastics.

As a point of interest for all the birders, the Bald Eagles have made their first appearance of the winter. A large immature eagle was spotted, earlier in the week, fishing in Willow Cove, and later that day, spotted by rangers in Boat Dock Cove doing the same thing.
