Park hours: 6:00 AM- 8:00 PM
Dock closes: 7 PM (Boats called in @ 7 PM)
Last Plant: Wednesday, April 22, 2015, 4,500 lbs. of trout
Next Plant: TENTATIVE: July 10, 2015- 1,000 lbs. of catfish
Water Temperature: 69 degrees Water Level: Average
Dixon Lake trout fishing has slowed almost completely. If anglers still wish to try for trout, night crawlers and PowerBait are recommended as bait.
The south shoreline, Whisker Bay, and the buoy line have been the most consistent fishing locations.
Catfish fishing continues to see success as large catfish are suspected to be eating left-over trout from the last April stocking. Fresh shrimp is the best bait for the catfish. Mackerel combined with stink bait is also being reported as effective bait. An extremely large catfish was caught by Yuangui Sun of San Diego on 6/7. The catfish weighed in at 14.11 lbs. Sun caught the fish near the area east of Trout Cove using a night crawler.
Bass fishing is steady. Large female and male bass have been making appearances near the south shoreline and near the Boat Dock. Imitation trout lures and night crawlers have been the most effective baits.
Starting June 5th, the Dixon Lake Whopper Contest will shift gears and feature the new fish of the season: catfish. The first catfish stock is tentatively scheduled for July 10th. Night fishing will also kick off on or near July 10th.
Dixon Lake staff encourages anglers who qualify to take advantage of “Senior/Military Wednesdays.” Senior citizens 60 and older and military personnel are eligible to purchase $18 all day motor boats, and $12 all day row boats every Wednesday.
