The shad population is huge this fall at Lower Otay. The bite has bene a little hit and miss which is also typical for this time of year. One day the bass are chasing and breaking on the shad and the next day are suspended and not biting on much. The bluegill, crappie and catfish bite remain consistent, however.

Bass fishing was slow on Saturday but picked up on Sunday. Shad is everywhere and the bass are breaking and chasing in the early morning and evening. Bass fishing has picked up from last week. Wednesday being the best. Huge shad ball are forming, epically in Otay Arm. Bass are breaking on the shad. Anglers are throwing jerk baits and anything that are shad shaped. Crappie are still being caught at North Point. The Bluegill bite is still good and red worms are their favorite here at Otay.
