- Stocking: The next stocking of 1,000 pounds is this week! The lake has been stocked with 3,750 pounds of catfish so far this season. We'll be stocking the lake through October 10th. The catfish stocking schedule can be viewed HERE.
- What's the catch? The bass bite has been steady from the campground shoreline. This weekend we heard reports that the shoreline between the Hermit Cove buoy line and Cactus Patch were productive for bass too. Sounds like they were biting on black Senkos. Bluegill were reeled in from the t-dock, Half Moon Cove, and Hermit Cove. They can't resist meal worms! Bluegill are sight feeders and feed during daylight hours. Make sure to use 2-6 pound test and cover a small hook (they have small mouths) with your bait. Catfish from the t-dock and Siesta Cove were reported this weekend. There's a lot of fishermen baiting with mackerel, so our rangers recommend switching out the mackerel for garlic shrimp or dough bait to entice the cats. They bite on both in our lake. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
- Conditions: The district is drawing water from the lake so expect lots of shoreline to fish from in the coming weeks. The draw will give us a chance to cut back some of the tulle exposing even more shoreline. The surface temperature around the boat dock is 81.6 degrees. The sun is rising around 5:45 a.m. and setting about 8:00 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
- JULY HOURS: This is the last week to take advantage of the lake being open on the week days! The catfish stock arrives this week as well. We will be open at the lake on Mondays and Thursdays, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the month of July in addition to our regular weekend hours. Boat rentals and launches will be available.
- Firepit Rentals: Can't commit to an entire weekend of camping? Rent one of our lakefront firepits on Saturday night, August 13th! Grab your friends, family, favorite peeps and gather around one of our firepits from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tell stories, roast s'mores, play games...slow down and enjoy the sunset. You can rent a firepit by calling (619) 390-1623 or reserve ONLINE.
- Please remember...Lake Jennings is a drinking water reservoir and no body contact is permitted. Do not enter the water at any time. Keep cool by soaking a bandana in water and draping it over your neck or forehead. Mist your clothing and wear light colors. Thank you for your cooperation!
- Campground: The campground opens for long term reservations in September. It's never too early to book a campsite for 30 nights or more! If you would like more information about long term camping visit our website HERE.
