In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Largest trout this past week was caught by Wyatt Voeks of Escondido a 5.40# rainbow caught on a crappie jig in Boat Dock Cove. Other notable cathes included: Roy Beck's 5.25#, Rick Kihle's 4.90#,Joe Daly's4.80#, and Fausto Barron's 4.70#. Preferred baits are inflated nightcrawlers or powerbait and/or powerworms , often dipped in a garlic sauce. Boat Dock Cove, Senior Shoreline, and the cove next to the South Shore Rock Pile have been the most productive areas. The rains early in the week have hampered the bite, but with plants scheduled for the next two Wednesdays it should pick right back up and remain good through the Holidays.Trout fishing opening weekend was outstanding.

Bass are to be found in the early morning and late afternoons lingering near submerged rock-piles lying in wait for the trout. This would be an excellent time to be using swimbait that resembles a small trout in hopes of landing a Big bass.

A small number of crappie are being caught mostly early in the day. Crappie respond well to finger jigs or live golden shiners and prefer shady places in which to hide.
